Vernal! You may not have it all! But what you've got's pretty good. And when I was a kid, I saw what the dinosaurs did! And when I was an adult, I heard you had a hard winter Hard winter for vernal Hard winter for you Try to make it through the night Like those who came before you Hyrum is coming for you Try not to stray from the light

Highland Boy 04:41
I was born in second century this place was named Utah in all of it's history My family came here in the first century My grandad would bootleg liquor out of Highland Boy They'd line the canyon Dinkyville, Frogtown and Upper Bingham too They're all gone now, into a pit and I've lost my roots so Highland Boy I understand you They could not have known that their lively hoods would take their homes Their shovels became augers and they dug the ground right out from under themselves and their wagon wheels became rubber and steel and they drove themselves right out to Midvale Kennecott is a hole, goodbye mountain, goodbye home IN my heart is a hole, goodbye mountain, goodbye home

Salt Flats 02:56
It's okay to make mistakes I was younger then but I'm not much older now wouldn't matter much anyhow It's okay to hide your face I would if I were you It's okay to not be friends I betrayed that trust in the end Oh, giant of the waste you walk with dignity and grace It's okay to screw up I know I have been one So I'll dry myself in the Salt Flats And see how I am when I get back Maybe I'll see you when I get back

Glendale 02:04
I was on the news the other day, even though I had nothing worth it to say. A man came to me and told me about a gang doing gang shit on video tape. and he said as apart of Glendale "How does it make you feel that this is happening?" and I said, "I don't live in Glendale but there's a family over there who might enjoy the thrill." But he had me speak anyways over people who had something relevant to say and they used my dumb ass quote on ABC of me practically saying nothing. What I said was, "If they filmed themselves doing what they did, then they probably did it".

There in Timpanogos there is a hole to see Hansen and Duke Onyx I wish that we could keep our secrets better than this and I wish that we would keep the land better than this And my grandpa always wanted to take me ther but I never seemed to care And my grandpa never took me ther before he died And like the rocks that became the cave He does not remain And like the rocks that stayed the same I can not relate And like the rocks that became the cave I too shall dissipate

Oh, Quaking Aspen I've been graspin' at my past at all I can't have Like you, your father is you and my mother is me I was born from a cut down tree with branches aching Oh, trembling giant I've been trying to go back to all I once had But unlike you, I'm not so old I don't know all the things you know All the things you have sewn Oh, Pandos I know that you are dyin' and that no one is tryin' to stop that and I see a grove of trees all around me It's all of my family

Hello! I've been meaning to put this out for a while. This was initially intended to be extras on the CD for Utah but I didn't ever have a good time to make them but hopefully sometime in the future. This mostly songs that I cut from the Utah album because they didn't fit, restated themes I felt were redundant or I just didn't like the way they fit into the album as a whole. I added the phone recordings and the demos as just fun little extras to have in between the songs that have a little more production to them. All the instrumentals had lyrics to them at one point but I just forgot them or they went nowhere and they sat in my voice memos for like 2 years.

Pretty much all of these were recorded late 2017 to mid 2019 except for "Glendale" which I wrote for a kid at my work at the beginning of 2020 because when he found out I make music and had an album about Utah, he immediately told me it was messed up I forgot about Glendale (where he lives) so I thought it'd be funny to return with a Glendale song.

Two of these songs appeared here a while back: soundcloud.com/ourfiftystatesproject/sets/utah

I also thought it'd be good to put something small online before I start putting stuff out for my next full length project! Either way have this as another fun ironic way to celebrate Pioneer Day on the 24th or if you're like most people in the world who don't know what that is, I hope you're having a great day!
